After hearing both Mr. Thomas Murray and Mr. Eric Sheninger speak at our state technology conference several times and also attending the Future Ready Schools conference, I knew I had to get a hands on this. Both of these gentlemen speak from the heart and they "keep it real". The fact that they "walk the walk" when it comes to sharing their experiences makes the eight keys stick. I have read a lot of "current educational trending books" over the last couple of years, but LT8Keys, by far, has the most dog ears/highlighted pages, and shareable researched content than any book in my collection today. I recently interviewed for a district-level administrative position and I referenced this book and the 8 keys during many of the interview questions. (I ended up getting the position) I currently have the book on the front corner of my desk to use as a reference, as-well-as a conversation starter with other administrators in my district. If you are looking for a change of mindset, having an impactful change in your district which will benefit your students and stakeholders, then add this book to your educational leadership collection. Buy more than one and share it with a colleague. They will thank you for it. I did. I've been a huge fan of Eric Sheninger for years (devoured his two previous books) and this book with Tom murray does not disappoint. I saw both speak at Model Schools and they have an important message to share with all educators. I absolutely love this book and ran a book study on it with my staff. These two have a passion for education and they challenge your thinking in a positive way; we have to change our current practices to engage and prepare our students for an ever changing work force; they cover everything from room design to different pedagogies and I loved the piece on teaching the Netflix generation. All educators should read this and as an administrator, I highly recommend it for ed leadership.
